Ashwagandha Supreme is another great adaptogen from Supreme Nutrition.
The first awesome thing about this Ashwagandha is that it contains 500mg of Ashwagandha with NOTHING else added. It is rare to find a product with only the ingredient in it. In fact about 10 years ago to ensure product quality I used to encapsulate my own supplements, a very time consuming process.
This is a major reason I use Supreme Nutrition products. In addition, the fillers and binders found in many popular brands cause reactions in my sensitive patients, or simply don’t pass the muscle test challenge.

While Ashwagandha is somewhat new to the American culture, it has been used for centuries across the world. Other popular names for Ashwagandha include Indian gensing or winter cherry. In other cultures it has been used for arthritis, anxiety, tumors, tuberculosis and liver disease. While less common it has been used for anti-aging, infertility in men and women, menstrual disorders, fibromyalgia and even hiccups. Additionally it has been used as an aphrodisiac, for treating asthma & bronchitis and even back pain.
Those are a lot of claims for one product, but what that demonstrates more is how stress, fatigue and inflammation affect the entire body. Ashwagandha while giving you energy when you need it, in my experience is more likely to slow you down when you don’t need it. In our fast paced society we are more likely “high strung” than relaxed and because of its aptogenic nature, it will actually create a calming effect in many patients.
Always consult your doctor before taking any supplement. Ashwagandha may have blood pressure lowering effects. It may affect blood sugar levels in those with diabetes. It should not be used during pregnancy or for those with active peptic ulcers. Ashwagandha is a member of the nightshade family and thus should be taken with caution in those sensitive to nightshades, although most tolerate this product well.
