Melia Supreme – Antimicrobial
Melia Supreme is powdered neem leaf (Melia azadirachta) put into vegetarian capsules with nothing else added (no fillers, binders, flowing agents, etc.)
Melia is an amazing plant that has been used therapeutically in India for at least 2,500 years. The word neem is reported to come from the Sanskrit language and roughly means “the healer and illness reliever”.
Melia Supreme is a great broad spectrum anti-microbial that has been shown to be effective in treating various microbes. Melia has been used for fungi, bacteria, parasites, virus (including herpes), and spirochetes. It also works against drug-resistant bacterial infections including both gram-positive (S. aureus) and gram negative (E. coli and P. aeruginosa) bacteria.
Research has demonstrated that even drug resistant candida forms were able to treated by taking neem. One of the major benefits also reported of neem is that opposed to antibiotics, it does not harm beneficial intestinal flora.
Melia has been shown to be protective of the liver. It also stimulates immune T-cell production in times of infection, and can also act to block pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are one of the major sources of pain in chronic conditions.
Melia containes small amounts of catechin and quercetin, which both have an anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine effects.
Neem has been used to successfully treat malaria as well as vitiligo, and has been reported to increase brain serotonin levels and even have anti-anxiety properties. Melia has also been shown to be effective at lowering cholesterol.
One interesting effect is that without decreasing libido or sperm count, neem has been used effectively as a male contraceptive although I wouldn’t take bets on it. In parts of Africa women use it also for the same purpose (so you may not want to use it if you are trying to get pregnant).
Dr. Anderson mainly uses Melia Supreme as a broad spectrum anti-microbial (AK testing shows it to be much better than neem oil against most microbes and patients report it is much better tolerated).
In patients with many microbial infections or severe symptoms Melia can be used in conjunction with other antimicrobials from Supreme Nutrition such as Morinda, Golden Thread, BFB-1 and BFB-2. Melia is probably the strongest anti-microbial in the Supreme Nutrition line, especially when it comes to fungus.
It is contra-indicated during pregnancy, nursing, and in young children.
